Rain Clan's Camp RP

Blinking her large, pale green eyes, LunarStar awoke inside her place in the leader's den. She got up on her paws and stretched, her jaws opening wide in a yawn. Early morning light streamed into her reed and cattails den. The she-cat then exited her den and looked around the Rain Clan camp. All the early-rising cats were bustling around; some heading to the clearing to train and others just lazily laying about. She padded over to the kill pile and took out a squirrel. With it gripped tightly in her jaws, she went to a spot and layed down. She sunk her teeth into the flesh and warm blood filled her mouth. She swallowed and took a few ore bites until she had eaten the whole thing. It was a rather small squirrel, so she had finished it off quickly. She ran her tongue along her chocolate brown pelt a few times before doing her daily runs around the camp. She passed by all the dens, said hello to all visible members of the clan, and checked to see how all the queens were doing. Seeing as everything was well, she walked over the boggy ground to the medicine cat's den. She had gotten a cut on her paw from a log and wanted to get it checked out. Peering inside the den she said, "WillowMoon?"

Willowmoon opened her eyes, the last fading echoes of her dreams whipping away into the darkness of her mind. She mrrowed in annoyance, flicking her tail irritably as the bright sunlight filtered into her den and straight into her sleepy eyes. She stood, stretching out her long limbs before padding to the den entrance. Her eyes narrowed, she took in the sight of the clan leader and led her gaze wander over the other she cat critically.
"Was there something I could do for you?" She asked, voice hard. She never tried to hide her feelings around other cats, the '-stars' included. As she was getting up in age, she acted as she felt was necessary. All this talk of niceties and walking on eggshells bothered her.

LunarStar only had to wait a few moments until the medicine cat appeared before her. The she-cat didn't appear to be in the greatest of moods. Though, LunarStar couldn't blame her, considering that not all were early-birds like her. Laughing with apparent mirth at the feline, she held out her chocolate brown paw. A 2-inch scratch was just above her paw. It had scabbed over during the night, but red inflamation around the cut had formed as well. " I got a scratch above my paw while surveying the territory last night. I wanted to come here and get it checked out. Just in case it might get infected or something." By now, she had grown used to WillowMoon's grumpy attitude and personality. She loved all her packmates; temperamental elders, energetic kits, fussing Queens, and protective toms. Not only that, but she had great respect for the medicine cats of her clan. They were chosen by StarClan and they help the cats of the Clan until they die or are too elderly. Blinking her pale eyes, she waited on the she-cat's verdict about the status of her cut. It didn't look too bad, but it wouldn't hurt to have it checked and commented on by somecat with an expert opinion.

Willowmoon grumbled under her breath, taking a few steps forward to inspect the cut. It reeked of infection, though only a medicine cat could really have a sharp enough sense to say it "reeked." She nudged it with her paw, carefully watching the reaction of the infected tissues.
"Mild inflammation." She nodded. "You have a small infection. I suppose it hurts a little bit, or at least enough to be slightly cumbersome. I will make a poultice for it, though really you should only have to eat a few herbs. That should make the swelling go down and clear up any issues in the wound." She flicked her tail, raising her head to look at the other she cat.
"Did you at least clean it in fresh water after you cut it?" She asked. It would have been the smart thing to do in case Lunarstar had just gone hunting. Illness spread easily that way, especially by one's own tongue.

LunarStar frowned heavily at the news that it was infected. She couldn't afford to be even mildly injured with all of the stuff she has to around the Clan. She was grateful to the medicine cat for informing her, though. However unpleasant the news was, she knew she could always count on WillowMoon to tell her the truth and accurate information. The pain in her paw was only a dull throb right now, but there was no way to tell if the pain would get worse or better before it healed. At the she-cat's question she nodded. "Of course, WillowMoon." Smiling meekly at the dark spotted feline she said, "I've learned enough from you to know better than to leave it dirty. " It was true, WillowMoon had been around many, many moons before LunarStar had. She had been there when she was just a little kit; LunarKit. WillowMoon had been a much-respected cat of the clan by the past Leader, Warriors, Queens, and kits alike and she still was to this day. She hoped that the medicine cat would be around many moons longer to train an apprentice that would be an equivalent in skills to her mentor.

Willowmoon nodded curtly, disappearing into her den. Her dark tail flicked out of sight and then suddenly her head was back out once more, her jaws laden with a few select herbs. She dropped them by her paws as she sat, looking over the cut.
"You'll be able to go around normally, but if it starts to hurt any worse or if it begins to feel numb, come find me." She said, dipping her head and chewing up two different leaves. She spat out the paste, using her paw to rub it over the cut on Lunarstar's leg.
"Now eat these." She pushed over a yellow leaf to her leader. "It will help with fighting infection from the inside as well, and should dull whatever discomfort you are feeling. Now if that is all, I believe I will go eat something. Being up this early makes me hungry." She grumbled, padding off towards the fresh kill pile.

Mellowheart was sitting in a spot just a few paw steps from the fresh kill pile. He looked a the small critteres pondering what he should pick. I had a bird yesterday, so it shouldn't be that. He thought to himself. Then he saw Willowmoon walk up to the pile to pick something out to eat. "Good morning Willowmoon. Nice day isn't it?" he asked. It seemed sunny, at least he couldn't see the clouds through the tall trees. He hoped it wouldn't rain, but it probably would since it was newleaf. Not that the rain bothered him, but it was hard to do things in the rain.

LunarStar looked at the herbs in mild curiousity, but also wariness. The herbs and job of a medicine cat had always interested her, but the want of a mate as well as to be a warrior had overweighed the prospect of being a medicine cat. She wondered what the names of them were, since there were so many. Apprentices must have trouble remembering them all and learning their properties, she thought.

WillowMoon then spit the paste out on the cut. She could feel the soothing effects of it already, the pain dulling down to a soft throb. The yellow, crinkly leaf was then pushed toward her and she dipped her head down to eat it. She began chewing it in her mouth. The bitter taste of it caused her to wrinkle her nose, but she forced herself to swallow it anyway. LunarStar followed shortly after the medicine cat. She passed up the food pile, since she had already eaten. She glanced at MellowHeart, a warrior of the clan and offered him a mrrow of greeting, as well as a flick of her long, fluffy, chocolate brown tail. She then began seeking out her deputy.

Willowmoon huffed in reply to the tom, picking out a mouse from the fresh kill pile and turning to leave. She padded over to one of the few sunny spots in the clearing and sat down. She enjoyed the warmth, and with her growing age she found she liked it more than the shadows. She curled up around her chosen meal and made quick work of it. Sighing, she glanced around the camp then laid her head down upon her paws. Her tail flicked back and forth irritably, annoyed that she couldn't find sleep. It appeared that she would have to do something else the rest of the day to bide her time. For now she just enjoyed the feeling of the sun as it filtered down from the tree tops to warm her fur.

Hawkpaw

A small tabby pushed through the thickets guarding the camp entrance holding borage in his jaws. He held onto the fresh green roots tightly; careful not to lose any of the precious herbs. Boarage leaves and roots should be consumed to stave off fevers. He didn't want any of his clan mates suffering discomforts from fevers as he quickly scurried past Willowmoon; his mentor, and into the medicine den to put the borage on the shelves.

The young three moon old kit named Emptykit walked curiously over to Rain clan's camp tasting the air for anything familiar, unsure of what to do. She wasn't sure whether to be afraid of the strong warriors and run or see if they knew anything about how she got separated from her mom, brothers, and sisters.
